To sell a car in the UK you need the V5C logbook, your service history, MOT certificates if applicable, both sets of keys, and proof of ID. If there's finance on the car, you'll also need a settlement letter. After the sale, tell the DVLA online so you're no longer liable.

The essentials
You need the V5C logbook, a full or partial service history, owner's manuals, both keys, the locking wheel nut and photo ID. Sellers of premium cars should also include the original order spec or build sheet, which proves which factory options the car has.
If your V5C is lost
You can apply for a replacement from the DVLA (the V62 form), which costs £25. Many buyers will wait for it, and some can complete the sale using the V5C reference number.
After the sale
Tell the DVLA online straight away using the 11-digit reference on the V5C. Cancel your insurance and any parking permits, and transfer or retain a private plate first if you want to keep it.
