Indicative curve based on typical UK premium-market depreciation. Your car's real value depends on spec, history and demand.

In short

Premium cars usually lose the most value in their first three years, often 40–50% in total, after which depreciation slows. Models with strong demand, such as the Porsche 911, Land Rover Defender and Mercedes G-Class, depreciate much more slowly.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a car depreciate per year?

Premium cars typically lose about 15–25% in year one and 10–15% a year for the next few years, then depreciation slows. Rare and high-demand models depreciate far less.

When is the best time to sell to avoid depreciation?

Just before the three-year mark (before the first MOT and the end of most warranties and PCP terms), and before mileage passes 60,000.
